Information Day for career practitioners

We look forward to seeing many of you at our Information Day for career practitioners on Monday 4 June at Gardens Point campus. Registration and program details will be sent by email in the mid-April edition of QUT News.

Admission overview 2018

QUT has made around 12,900 QTAC offers for Semester 1, 2018, with many Year 12 students receiving an offer before Christmas. Read more about which study areas were most popular and changes to OP thresholds.

New opportunities in creative industries

A number of new courses in the design and communication study areas will be available from 2019, including an extensive range of double degrees.

Developing entrepreneurs and innovators

If you have budding entrepreneurs and innovators in your school, QUT is the place for them. QUT Foundry helps inspire, educate, enable, and connect current and future innovators and entrepreneurs within the QUT community.

Student experiences

Students can get involved in a number of upcoming opportunities such as the World Science Festival (including QUT activities), BlueShift business competition and QUT Precincts programs.

START QUT success

Forty students from the 102 who participated in START QUT in Semester 2, 2017 achieved an outstanding grade of either 6 or 7 for their studies. We have also welcomed 129 new START QUT students at orientation sessions. School contacts will soon receive an update on their participating students via email. Semester 2 applications will open on 1 March. Check the START QUT website for details.

QUT event date claimers

We offer many opportunities for students to talk to QUT and make sure they have all the information they need to make decisions about their future. Events for your students' calendars include Subject Selection for STEM Careers (9 May), Careers and Employment Expo (11–12 May), Parent Information Seminar (15 May), TSXPO (21-22 July) and QUT Open Day (29 July).

Students can gain assumed knowledge or prerequisites

Students who didn't select subjects to meet assumed knowedge or prerequisites for their preferred university courses can pick up this knowledge, while at school or during summer before they start university, by studying a QUT bridging course in Maths B, Chemistry or Physics.

Professional development opportunities

STEM professional development workshops are being offered in March for primary STEM teachers and secondary STEM teachers. Also, if you or your colleagues have been considering further study, QUT has more courses and more places for mid-year entry, so you may not need to wait until next year to start.
